Pierre Michel Automatic - Black Dial - ETA 2451 - Swiss - Circa 1964-1965

Offered here is a Pierre Michel Swiss automatic wristwatch built around the ETA 2451 movement and dating to around 1964 to 1965. The watch features a glossy black dial with a radiant pattern not fully visible in photographs, applied hour markers, luminous tritium hands, and a clean, balanced layout.

Black dials from this period are quite uncommon compared to silvered dials, and they tend to be more sought after because they wear more modern and dramatic while still staying true to the era.

Not much is known about Pierre Michel, it was perhaps a small private label or small brand from the period. It does not appear to be related to the later Pierre Michel Golay with links to Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, as he did not start making watches until 1973.

The ETA 2451 was produced from the late 1950s through the early 1970s and is most commonly seen in watches from the 1960s. It employs a bidirectional automatic winding system distinguished by two gold-plated reversing wheels, a detail shared with several high-grade Swiss automatics of the era and visually identical to Eterna-Matic's well-regarded automatic works.

The stainless steel case presents beautifully with distinctive sharp vintage lugs. The watch is fitted with a padded black leather strap with off-white stitching that complements the dial without distracting from it. The movement winds, sets, and runs.
