Benrus Tonneau - Salmon Dial - Rose Gold Filled - Shockproof - Circa 1941-1943

Offered here is a striking Benrus Shockproof tonneau wristwatch, produced approximately 1941 to 1943. This is the era when American brands like Benrus were pairing Swiss-made jeweled movements with bold, modern case shapes, watches that felt dressy and architectural rather than purely utilitarian. The result is pure early 1940s design: compact, refined, and purpose-built to be worn, not just collected.

The dial is the star: a warm salmon and copper tone with raised applied Arabic numerals. The layout is beautifully balanced with a sub-seconds register at six o'clock and the period-correct Shockproof marking above it. The lance-style hands are long, tapered, and sharply pointed, blued to a beautiful deep purple tone that the photographs barely do justice. There is one small chip on the left middle edge of the crystal.

The rose gold filled case is a classic tonneau form with a stepped profile and distinctive fluted engine-turned sections at twelve and six that add texture and presence. It wears like a small piece of Art Deco to mid-century transition design, clean but full of character. The watch is currently fitted with a leather strap.

Inside is a Benrus Watch Co. Caliber AT 12 signed Swiss manual-wind movement, marked seventeen jewels. The movement winds, sets, and runs.
